Timber Yard Worker

Farmgate Backpackers is known as one of Queensland's most reputable seasonal worker coordinators. We have a culture and reputation for providing challenging farm work, offering 30 hours work per week and sometimes more.

The Childers/Bundaberg area provides a variety of jobs all year round. The casual Timber Industry Award wage currently set at a minimum of $30.35 per hour and $31.19 after 3 months experience. Superannuation is additional and is paid at the statutory rate.

We are now seeking workers for timber yard worker jobs where work will be allocated on a first in basis. Work may be over a 7 day cycle, depending on the time of the season. Pay will be in accordance with the Timber Industry Award regarding normal time and all penalty rates. Performance bonuses are not available and own transport and accommodation must be pre-arranged.

Work is typically spanned between 6am and 6pm, normally with 7.6 hour daily shifts. The payment of overtime rates and additional hours is rare. The work is often outdoors in the heat. Having a high tolerance for extreme temperatures and hard work is essential. All award benefits under these conditions are met.

No experience nor skills are needed, as training is provided. A very strong work ethic, a 7-9 month written contract commitment to the job and advanced fitness levels are mandatory.
