About the job

As ourAsset Strategy and Innovation Specialist, you'll lead the development of multi-horizon asset management strategies and strategic asset management plans (SAMPs) that align with international best practices and drive long-term planning, innovation, and resilience across our water and wastewater infrastructure.

This role is central to shaping our strategic asset management approach—embedding climate adaptation, water security, and emerging technologies into our planning frameworks. You'll work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our infrastructure meets current and future needs while delivering value to our customers and communities.

You are a strategic asset management professional with a strong technical foundation and a passion for innovation. You have a deep understanding of infrastructure planning, lifecycle optimisation, and sustainability. You are a systems thinker who can translate complex data and trends into actionable strategies and plans that deliver long-term value.

About Sustainable Infrastructure

The Sustainable Infrastructure group is dedicated to maximising value for customers and the community by developing innovative and optimised infrastructure plans, and overseeing the planning, construction, delivery, and maintenance of water and sewerage assets across the state and business.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

- Leading the development and implementation of asset management policies, strategies, and strategic asset management plans (SAMP).
- Identifying and integrating innovative technologies and practices, including AI, IoT, and predictive analytics.
- Conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies aligned with corporate frameworks.
- Managing strategic improvement programs and projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to align strategy with customer and community needs.
- Designing and delivering training programs to build asset management capability across the organisation.

Your success in this role will come from:

- 5+ years in asset management, ideally within the water or wastewater sector.
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of asset management systems, standards, and best practices.
- Experience with climate resilience, water security, and emerging technologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
