Position Information

Willyama High School (enrolment 570 students, including 125 Aboriginal students) is a comprehensive high school located in Broken Hill in Far West NSW. Our school has established positive relationships and strong connections with our local community with a focus on evidence-based teaching and learning practices that inspire our students to excel through academic, sporting, extra‑curricular and cultural endeavours. There is a strong focus on using technology in the classroom and improving literacy and numeracy throughout our school. Our school's core values of respect, responsibility and cooperation are regularly reinforced.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach Physics and Science (7‑10).

- Demonstrated ability to implement evidence‑based teaching practices to engage and develop students with a wide range of abilities with a focus on improving literacy and numeracy.

- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement technology in the classroom, with a focus on improving teaching and learning. Demonstrated understanding of, and the capacity to cater for, the needs of Aboriginal students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
