Shape the Future of Nursing & Midwifery Research in WA’s Top-Ranked School

At ECU, we are transforming the future of healthcare. The School of Nursing and Midwifery is recognised for its commitment to excellence in education, impactful research, and meaningful community engagement. Ranked the #1 University in WA for Nursing (Good Universities Guide, 2025), and having maintained our 5-star rating for undergraduate teaching quality for 18 straight years, we are proud to graduate the most registered nurses in Western Australia. Our School continues to set the benchmark for nursing and midwifery education and research nationally and globally.

With a strong focus on improving health outcomes through socially accountable and inclusive practices, our School is committed to preparing the next generation of nursing and midwifery leaders. Our teaching and research is grounded in humanitarian principles of social justice, equity, and inclusion, and our community-focused approach ensures that we remain at the forefront of real-world, translational impact.

Our research agenda is driven by four key areas:

- Acute and Chronic Disease Prevention, Management and Survivorship in Children, Young People and Adults
- Centre for Research in Aged Care
- Safe, Quality Midwifery Care
- Safety, Quality and Workforce

These research areas are dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities through research excellence and innovation. Our outputs are highly cited – 50% more than the world average – and we work in close partnership with leading health services across WA, Australia and internationally.

We are now seeking a dynamic and visionary academic leader to take on the role of Associate Dean, Research. This senior leadership position plays a critical role in shaping the School’s research strategy, mentoring and supporting emerging researchers, and driving innovation in practice-oriented research.

As the Associate Dean, Research, you will:

- Provide academic leadership to strengthen research capability and output across the School;
- Champion interdisciplinary and collaborative research, both internally and with our extensive extern partners;
- Foster a supportive environment for early and mid-career academics to thrive;
- Lead initiatives that align with the School’s commitment to impactful, community-driven research; and
- Contribute to the School’s senior leadership team and strategic planning.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in a School that is both ambitious and grounded in values-driven education and research. Based at our Joondalup campus in Perth, Western Australia, you will join an energetic, collaborative and future-focused leadership team that is committed to excellence.

If you are a senior nursing or midwifery academic with a proven track record in research excellence and academic leadership – and are ready to shape the next chapter of our School and nursing and midwifery research in WA – we encourage you to apply.
