Overview

Narrandera High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in the Riverina region, with an enrolment of approximately 330 students — 30% of whom identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The school has a proud tradition of academic achievement, sporting success, and cultural excellence. Narrandera High School offers a range of specialised programs and support services, including an Intervention Centre that promotes inclusive practices and personalised learning, a Clontarf Academy, the Stars Foundation, and an Aboriginal Learning and Engagement Centre (ALEC). Currently, the school operates two multi-categorical classrooms, with a third classroom planned to open in 2026, which will include additional staffing and a Head Teacher position. Narrandera High School is a successful Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, emphasising restorative practices and the development of positive relationships across the school community.

Our school implements a compressed curriculum model for Stage 6 students, enabling students to engage in accelerated learning pathways. Our HSC results demonstrate value-added progress from Year 9 to Year 12, with more than half of our Year 12 graduates receiving offers to study a diverse range of courses at various universities. Narrandera High School is dedicated to enhancing effective classroom practices through ongoing staff professional learning and collaboration, including active engagement with local school networks. Our professional learning initiatives prioritise the improvement of student literacy and numeracy by employing explicit teaching strategies alongside robust data collection, analysis, and application. We are committed to creating a learning environment that nurtures high educational aspirations and sets ambitious expectations. Central to our approach is building effective partnerships with students and parents, ensuring that all students are motivated to achieve their best and pursue ongoing improvement.

Responsibilities

- Provide high-quality teaching of Science to Years 7-10 in accordance with NSW Education standards and approved curriculum.
- Develop and deliver teaching programs, assessments, and resources that integrate curriculum and school priorities.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach Year 7-10 Science.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver teaching programs, assessment tasks and resources that integrate curriculum and school priorities.
- Demonstrated proactive and effective classroom management strategies to engage students with a differentiated curriculum, to meet the individual learning needs of a diverse student body.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with students, staff and parents to support student learning and wellbeing.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
