Overview

Royal Adelaide Hospital is seeking a leader to guide the General Medicine and Acute Medicine Units. The Head of Unit will provide clinical leadership, governance, and vision to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care. The role includes leading a multidisciplinary team, overseeing operational performance, and maintaining a clinical load for complex cases.

About the Role

As Head of Unit – General Medicine, you will:

- Provide clinical leadership and governance across General Medicine and Acute Medicine units.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team and drive operational excellence to deliver safe, efficient, and integrated services that meet community needs.
- Maintain a clinical load and apply expertise to complex cases to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Contribute to strategic planning, workforce development, and succession planning.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and foster a culture of research and teaching, supporting the professional growth of medical staff and trainees.

About You

You are an experienced medical leader with MBBS or equivalent and specialist registration in Acute and General Medicine (or equivalent under SA Medical Officers Award). You will have:

- Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong clinical expertise, problem-solving ability, and commitment to quality improvement.
- Experience in teaching, research, budget management, and system development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills; a patient-centred approach.

Qualifications

- Registered Medical Practitioner with specialist qualifications in Acute & General Medicine (or equivalent).
