For more than 60 years, we have created thriving places around the globe. **About Role:**We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team to support Lendlease’s Development business, based full-time in Sydney. In this busy and rewarding role you will provide strategic, pragmatic, flexible and commercially astute legal advice tailored to balance and mitigate legal risks across all phases of the full project lifecycle.We employ our decades-long experience, bold thinking and expertise to shape cities all over the world, delivering innovative, sustainable places and infrastructure for governments, businesses and communities.Our development business is focused on the creation of mixed-use precincts that comprise apartments, workplaces and associated leisure and entertainment amenity.As a member of the legal team you will support all areas of the Development business as we grow and deliver the Development pipeline in Australia.Reporting to the Deputy Head of Legal, your key responsibilities will include:* Partnering with internal and external stakeholders, to provide proactive, strategic and quality legal advice across the full lifecycle of a project: from due diligence on new opportunities, project conversion (including acquisition, debt and capital structuring, establishing governance processes and D&C establishment) and delivery (including planning, administering of D&C contracts, retail and commercial leasing, subdivision, sales and conveyancing and dispute management).* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating of a broad range of complex legal documentation including development agreements, PDA’s, joint venture documentation, consultancy agreements, sale contracts, D&C contracts, consultant agreements and leasing documentation.* Advising on regulatory compliance and contributing to legal risk management and governance initiatives across the business.* Managing external legal counsel, including legal budgets and spend.**About You:**A tertiary education in law and admission to practice in Australia, as well as extensive post-qualification legal experience of at least 5 years PQE (ideally within a highly regarded law firm or in-house legal team in property development) including exposure to a variety of major projects across different asset classes will be essential.You will have experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of complex legal documentation and have an impact-focused and collaborative approach to delivering legal services. Also, experience in managing external legal counsel to achieve cost-effective, outcome focussed support to a property development business.You will have demonstrated ability to appropriately identify and assess material legal issues and be an exceptional team player.We are committed to developing and retaining the best people and provide the best possible learning and development opportunities.
