The role

As Manager Policy and Projects, you will play an instrumental role in providing policy and project management support to the General Manager, Office of the Director General by assisting with developing, implementing and evaluating strategic initiatives including corporate governance practices and strategic management for the Office of the Director General.

Your capacity to succeed in this position will be predicated on your ability to lead and manage projects that require consultation and collaboration. This role will also involve actively liaising and consulting at all levels, fostering a collaborative environment to facilitate an agreed position on complex matters.

In assuming this position, your experience in policy development, implementation and business process redesign along with your adept research, analysis and writing skills will be a key to your effectiveness in the role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department or other agencies for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

In that context, can you demonstrate what you would do if you had made significant progress on a project, only to realise that the project's goals had changed, and you needed to re-do your work? How would you consult with stakeholders to facilitate an agreed position?
