Team Leader - Theatres

Band 7 Theatre Practitioner (Scrub and Anaesthetics)

We are looking for two highly skilled and motivated Band 7 Theatre Practitioners with either extensive scrub and anaesthetic experience or anaesthetic experience to join our dynamic teams.

1 Band 7 Rosie & AP/ODP and 1 Band 7 for Unit 3 & CEU

As a senior member of staff, you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining strong clinical, leadership, and management skills within a supportive senior team structure.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and coordinating the day-to-day activities within Theatres 24/7

- Demonstrating effective and safe decision-making in complex clinical situations.

- Taking an active role in all aspects of staff management, including supervision, development, and performance.

- Contributing to the continuous improvement of services and patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

- Provide professional and managerial leadership to the clinical/theatre teams within their designated areas.

- Provide a highly visible and authoritative presence ensuring the provision of high quality services, responsive to the needs of the patient at the centre of care delivery.

- Maintain a visible clinical presence acting as a role model upon whom patients, visitors and staff can rely for support to ensure the fundamental and specialist aspects of care are met.

- Support the wider divisional leadership team covering weekends and nights when required to ensure effective and efficient management of services to agreed standards.

- Support the Theatre Matrons by leading and developing theatre practitioners, their clinical practice and meaningful improvements to patient care.

- Manage the department out of normal working hours and deputise for the Theatre Matrons as required.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Person Specification

Qualifications

- Current and relevant registration on NMC/HCPC

- Registered practice for a minimum of 2 years at Band 6

- Evidence of recent professional development relevant to job role

- Recruitment and selection training

- Teaching/assessing qualification

- Human factors training

Experience

- Current clinical expertise in at least two of the three areas of theatre practice (scrub, anaesthetic and recovery)

- Awareness of research based practice

- Awareness of reflective and clinical supervision skills

- Ability to prioritise workloadand multitasking

- Experience in staff appraisal

- Experience of Resource Management

- Demonstrable understanding of HR processes pertaining to staff and management

- Experience in audit processes

Knowledge

- Demonstrable knowledge of development/innovation in Theatre clinical practice

- Of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patients' care during major surgery

- Of managing, leading and working as an integral member of the team

- Of clinical governance and patient safety agendas
