Department of Health Community, Mental Health & Wellbeing CMHW - MH & Statewide Services Applications must be submitted by Sunday 18 January 2026 11:55 PM Award/Classification: Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award, Registered Nurse, Grade 5 $109,767 to $115,813 per annum Employment type: Permanent, full‑time Region: North West Location: We are seeking a suitably experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Devonport Adult Community Mental Health Service. The Team: The Devonport Adult Community Mental Health Service (DACMHS NW) is a case management service that provides expert mental health care including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting. The Role: As part of a multi‑disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Specialist: - Provides expert knowledge utilising an advanced clinical framework in the management of consumers with complex mental health needs within the designated area of practice. - Develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates relevant activities to improve patient outcomes within the multi‑disciplinary team. - Participates as an active member of the Adult Community Mental Health team in delivering case management, carer education, consultation and collaboration with GP’s and significant others in provision of care to a designated number of consumers. You will need: - Extensive experience in and comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice in a variety of settings, with at least five years post‑graduate clinical nursing experience directly applicable to Mental Health settings. - Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety and relevant statutory requirements and departmental procedures and policies. - Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and the proven ability to work constructively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team at both service and community levels. Salary:$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. - Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: - Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. More information about our Employee Benefits can be found here Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom. Current Driver’s License Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: - Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or is credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent.
