Main function of job:

As a claims handler you will be working as part of a well-established and experienced team, managing liability claims from the first notification of loss through to settlement. You will be instructing experts and making decisions on the validity and quantum of a claim, whilst reviewing evidence for any potentially fraudulent activity. Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

- Ownership and management of your own claims’ portfolio.

- Processing new insurance claims notifications and assessing whether preliminary investigations are required.

- Collaborating with insurers to report and seek authority on claims outside of delegated authority limits, ensuring compliance with company and client guidelines and protocols.

- Analysing documentation and evidence to establish whether the policy conditions are satisfied and investigating any potential fraudulent claims activity.

- Advising our clients on the best claims strategy for their desired outcome.

- Ensuring all claims data and documents are accurately recorded in our claims management system.

- Proactively managing claims to ensure the best outcome is achieved quickly for our clients and their customers.

- Instructing external specialists, such as solicitors, loss adjusters and forensic accountants as and when required and ensuring they also adhere to our services level agreements.

- Preparing an initial estimate of costs and ensuring accurate reserves are held and the client is updated of any material changes.

- Adhering to the legal requirements, industry regulations, customer quality standards and compliance with the General Insurance Code of Practice (GICOP) and insurer service standards.

What will help you succeed in this role?

We would like you to have:

- Previous experience working in an insurance, claims or legal environment, managing general and/or product liability claims, ideally including large and complex claims.

- A legal qualification or general insurance experience, particularly knowledge of Lloyd's of London key processes, interpretation of policies, clauses and exclusions.

- Enthusiasm and the ability to deliver high quality client-centric services.

- Confidence when dealing with people from all walks of life, whilst acting with compassion and delivering the best outcome for our client.

- Good analytical, negotiation and strategic decision-making skills.

- Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.

- The ability to work as a team and to share your knowledge and experience with more junior colleagues.

- A commercial mindset.

- Good IT literacy and computer skills.

- Excellent written communication skills/experience with internal and external referrals and reporting.
