Senior Operations Manager – South Australia & Northern Territory

FedEx is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our operations across South Australia and the Northern Territory. Based at our state-of-the-art Netley facility, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple sites, leading a team of managers and a workforce of 400+ team members.

This rare vacancy within the South Australian transport industry is a critical senior leadership role with a broad remit: from strategic planning and financial oversight to people leadership, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will have the support to make a meaningful impact – driving performance and shaping the future of our operations in the region. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong analytical and people skills, that is driven to achieve results.

A key area of focus for the incumbent will be to support growing local business and to maximise operational performance of our fleet assets, technology and workforce to create a future fit for our valued customers.

Key responsibilities:

- Provide overall strategic planning for the site, including setting high-level departmental goals and guiding the management team.
- Lead and oversee major projects that involve significant operational changes.
- Contribute to the development of regional strategies and coordinate planning and implementation activities to support business objectives.
- Champion continuous improvement to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive annual plans, including budget forecasting.
- Coach and develop leaders, fostering a high performing, engaged, and accountable team.

- Extensive operational transport/logistics experience.
- A commercially minded, evidence-based decision maker.
- Commercial skills in financial, asset & fleet maintenance management.
- The passion and operational experience to apply theory to reality.
- Process improvement qualifications (Lean / Six Sigma).
- Sound understanding and functional knowledge of relevant legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated high level planning and implementation skills.
- Budget management experience.
- Strong reporting ability with experience presenting to multiple levels of business.
- Proficient in presenting complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Experience managing a team in a high-volume express freight operation.
