Continually evolving and growing not-for-profit organization focused on safeguarding Australia’s unique environment. The organization attracts support from UHNW, HNW, and corporate donors. With over 200 dedicated staff across Australia and a long-serving executive team, the company is implementing a future growth strategy that includes improvements to the finance function through advanced technologies.
Your New Role
Reporting to the CFO, you will lead a team of 7–8, including qualified CA/CPA accountants and transactional staff across AP, AR, and Payroll. Your success will be defined by developing and engaging your team, delivering high performance, and driving a culture of engagement.
Key responsibilities include performance reporting, financial compliance, budgeting/forecasting, treasury and banking activities, investment activities, decision support, and day-to-day financial operations. You will seek opportunities to continuously improve the finance function, automate tasks where possible (e.g., corporate credit card reimbursement tools), harness AI responsibly, and manage systems upgrades.
Your profile should demonstrate a track record of staff development, engagement, and promoting team members into more senior roles. You will engage with operational leaders to translate complex accounting into clear, actionable insights and provide finance business partnering, cost analytics, and accessible budgeting templates. A passion for the outdoors and the environment is essential, including demonstrated environmental responsibility in your personal life.
Your Benefits
You will have the opportunity to eventually assume the CFO role within 5–7 years as the incumbent retires. The role offers a highly flexible adult working environment with a requirement to be in the office 2–3 days per week after probation, with option to work more days as preferred. Travel across Australia to project locations is part of the role. You will also witness your team develop and flourish under your leadership, which is highly rewarding.
