Casual - Grounds Staff I Mornington Racecourse

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Casual Grounds Staff to join our team at Mornington Racecourse. This hands-on role offers variety each day, with responsibilities including track repair work, preparing and cleaning horse stalls for training days, and ensuring all facilities are kept clean, safe, and well-presented.

The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is recognised as a 2022, 2023 & 2024 Winner of The Australian Business Awards for Employer of Choice. We are one of Australia/'s most prestigious Sports, Events and Property Development companies, running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Sportsbet Sandown and Mornington Racecourses. We also own 15 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG).

What will my duties include?

- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the racetrack surface, to ensure safe and optimal racing conditions.

- General race day duties inclusive of track repairs, horse stall cleaning, and locking and unlocking of gates as required.

- Weed garden beds, lawns, and landscaped areas when required.

- Maintain cleanliness across public areas, carparks, and surrounding grounds.

- Assist with seasonal tasks, repairs, and special projects.

- Undertake other reasonable duties in line with operational requirements of the venue.

The role involves manual tasks and prolonged periods of physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

What we are looking for

- Work well as part of a team or autonomously

- Capacity to perform safe manual handling of objects weighing up to 20kg

- Experienced in operating a whipper snipper

- Availability to work early mornings and weekends is essential

- Suitable for local residents or those willing to travel

- No prior experience with horses required, as training is provided. Previous experience will be seen as advantageous

- Willingness to perform duties in outdoor conditions year-round

- Can-do attitude, strong work ethic, reliability, and adaptability to the varied demands of race day operations and grounds maintenance tasks
