Council of the City of Sydney, Australia Tpg-Tel Full time

Bring your ‘you’ to TPG Telecom, and help us build meaningful relationships and support vibrant, connected communities. We’re better and bolder together.

TPG Telecom started with a belief that we can make things better for Australians. We believe in the power of meaningful relationships to support vibrant, connected communities where everyone belongs. It’s our why; our reason to exist. Now, we’re proud to be one of Australia’s leading mobile and internet providers. We’re not just redefining telco, we’re changing its course. And you play a role in that. A big one. The opportunities are plenty for those who are ready to accept the challenge.

Could that be you?

Your opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong experience and proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex managed services and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate would have a solid background in Telco/IT Managed Services and have ability to deliver high-quality project outcomes, while driving innovation and continuous improvement within our delivery/transition capability.

This is a hands‑on role that will have high business visibility through working on strategically important project/programs which requires a self‑starter who is able to coordinate and communicate to multiple stakeholders (internal and customer), partners and vendors and take ownership in managing updates up into management and executive committees.

As a Project Manager, one of your key priorities will be leading the transition of major SDWAN, Cloud/SASE to TPG and its partners by developing and executing project plans, conducting stakeholder meetings, and ensuring all relevant project risks and issues are identified and mitigated across various departments in line with business & customer outcomes and goals.

You will ensure all project adherence of the governance frameworks is in place through a Prince2/Agile/ITIL methodology approach to report and define a clear set of deliverables to the business sponsors to measure success metrics and criteria throughout the project lifecycle.

Overall, we are seeking a Project Manager who can deliver high‑quality project outcomes, while driving innovation and continuous improvement within our delivery/transition capability. The successful candidate would have solution‑oriented mindset, and strong communication and planning skills, and would make a significant impact by optimising customer experience and facilitate seamless product/service transition.

You’ll make impact by:

- Managing the Project Lifecycle: Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from project kick‑off to closure, ensuring alignment with project scope, delivery, and objectives. Continuously engage with stakeholders to achieve project success.

- Enhancing the Customer Experience: Maintain a strong focus on delivering a great customer experience throughout the project lifecycle. Continuously assess and address customer needs and expectations, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with project outcomes.

- Ensuring On‑Time and On‑Budget Delivery: Prioritize and manage projects to meet deadlines and budget constraints. Implement strategies to keep projects on schedule and within budget, while efficiently utilizing available resources.

- Effective Project Control: Establish and maintain essential project controls, including budget management, schedule tracking, risk and issue registers, status reports, and relevant documentation. Ensure the completion of all work orders before and after the project transition.

- Quality and Communication Leadership: Chair project meetings and ceremonies, collaborating with technical and business teams to ensure the timely and budget‑conscious completion of project milestones. Uphold high standards of quality and communication throughout the project.

- Data Analysis and Reporting: Possess a proficient understanding of analytics, trends, and reporting, with a keen eye for detail that enhances business processes and workflows. Leverage this expertise to improve project performance.

- Adherence to Project Methodology: Apply a competent level of understanding of project methodologies to create project schedules, risk/issue registers, and budgeting/cost tracking, ensuring the project follows established best practices.

- Comprehensive Governance Reporting: Prepare and deliver all project governance reports, including weekly status updates, end stage delivery reports, change management requests, and other required documentation. Provide critical information to business sponsors and steering committee members.

- Risk and Issue Management: Take accountability as the primary point of contact and escalation for addressing risks and issues that may impact project schedules and timelines. Provide feedback to your direct manager to enhance team efficiency and project processes.

- Strategic Partner Engagement: Develop and maintain long‑term governance and relationship dynamics with major third‑party carriers and support partners. Utilize a collaborative approach to create mutual value and achieve delivery, technical support, and operational key objectives.

What you’ll bring:

- 3+ years of leading complex telecommunications projects, end‑to‑end, with Prince2 and ITIL accreditation.

- Hands‑on expertise in delivering large scale SD‑WAN solutions (Fortinet, Cisco Meraki) and other Telco infrastructure projects.

- Proven track record managing data centre and cloud transformations (AWS/Azure), including security features and cloud‑native applications.

- Ability to translate intricate technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for both technical teams and non‑technical stakeholders.

- Demonstrated leadership of large, matrixed delivery and operational teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.

- Outstanding relationship‑building skills with customers, partners and internal peers; adept at steering executive briefings and management committee updates.

- Exceptional presentation, organization and communication capabilities across all levels of stakeholder engagement.

- Experience driving business change and process improvement initiatives, embedding lessons learned into scalable delivery frameworks.

- Acute awareness of organizational priorities and challenges, with exposure to IT&T sales environments to balance technical solutions and commercial objectives.

- Resilient under pressure, flexible in dynamic settings and tenacious in overcoming obstacles.

- Skilled user of productivity and reporting tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project and MS Teams) to deliver clear, concise operational and customer‑facing updates.
