Specialist Oncology Dietitian - Rotational

We are looking for suitably experienced Dietitians to work within our team of 15 Oncology / Surgery Dietitians to care for patients treated in the Cambridge Cancer Centre.

You will be well supported by Senior Oncology Dietitians and be involved in providing a service to all patients across the whole pathway, including Inpatients and Outpatients and all modes of treatment; chemotherapy / immunotherapy / CAR-T / Radiotherapy / Major Cancer surgery. These posts will also involve supporting patients requiring artificial nutrition support.

Main duties of the job

To act as part of the Dietetic Team and in conjunction with the Oncology Team, to contribute to the dietetic services to a variety of Oncology areas such as Lung, Head and Neck, Upper GI, HPB and Haemato-oncology patients, streamlining service and care regionally, where appropriate, in conjunction with the Band 7 and Band 8a Dietitians at Addenbrooke's and other external Units/agencies as appropriate.

To work within a multi-professional framework and contribute to a first-class service through evidence-based clinical practice, management, education, research and audit.

To set and work towards individual and team objectives that reflect corporate plans and work within the clinical governance framework.

Job responsibilities

We are a large and growing Oncology team as we plan and prepare for the development of our new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.https://www.cambridgecancer.org.uk/our-hospital/

Our Dietetic Team of over 100 Dietitians covers a range of specialities including Cancer, Critical Care, Neurosurgery, Hepatology, Renal, Organ Transplants, Gastroenterology, Paediatrics, Diabetes, Cardiology and Obesity. We have a very active social committee and EDI group and regularly hold social events both inside and outside the hospital. In addition, the Trust also has social fitness centre on site.Our Oncology specialist MDTs are very inclusive and supportive and we have a strong presence within them.

This is an onsite, clinical post at CUH. The department operates over the hours of 9-5 although there may be opportunities for some flexible working.

We are also be in the position to be able to offer 30 hour/week (0.8WTE) 1 year secondment (until 03.08.26).

We would consider (application numbers dependent and whether we can successfully recruit suitably qualified Dietitians applicants at Band 6 level) to explore this position as a progression post for a suitably qualified Band 5 looking to develop towards a Band 6 within Oncology Dietetics. Please consider applying if you have experience at Band 5 level and would like to be considered, should this opportunity arise. However, this does not guarantee you will be shortlisted to interview in the event of large application numbers at Band 6. The Department has a thriving and well regarded Research Group and has supported staff with post graduate qualifications, offering junior staff or those new to research guidance and support in research skills development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

- Appropriate degree/diploma to post graduate level such as Diploma in Advanced dietetic Practice or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Evidence of CPD (portfolio)
- Training / further study

Experience

- Good general acute experience in the NHS or comparable hospital systems
- Evidence of researching and experiencing specialist dietetic areas including one or more the following: nutrition support, Oncology, Renal, Gastroenterology, Hepatology
- Evidence of the ability to research and produce project portfolios / work
- Experience of giving talks / group education sessions on dietetic subjects
- Experience in nutrition support / Oncology / Upper GI / Gastro / Surgery
- Student Training experience
- Proven development work in either speciality or can demonstrate the potential from transferable specialisms
- Experience of developing and delivering staff and patient education programmes
- Experience using electronic patient record

- Works well in a team and demonstrates potential to work on own initiative
