Tweed Shire Council is looking for motivated individuals who are committed to completing an apprenticeship and earning a nationally recognised qualification through hands-on training and formal study.
If you have a passion for Graphic Design, branding and multimedia, are eager to learn and ready to take the next step, we want to hear from you
About the Apprenticeship
Tweed Shire Council offers an Apprenticeship with our Destination Communication and Customer Experience team. As an apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate III in Prepress Graphic Design Production.
As an Apprentice Graphic Designer, you will assist in maintaining quality design and content creation advice across all of Council’s publications in print and digital environments while working within established brands and style guides. This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career as a Graphic Designer.
In order to meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship, successful completion of on-the-job training and studies is required.
What you'll do
- Assist in the delivery of high-quality graphic design, multimedia content and publishing services to meet Council’s day-to-day visual communication needs across digital and print channels.
- Contribute to the creation of engaging visual content - including major corporate documents, newsletters and marketing collateral that informs, educates and connects with the Tweed community and Council staff.
- Develop understanding of Council’s brand identity including the use of style guides, templates and accessible design practices.
- Assist with creative client services and design support to internal stakeholders, primarily within the Destination, Communication and Customer Experience unit.
- Learn and apply digital asset management and prioritise workflow in a deadline-driven environment, ensuring timely delivery of visual communications and assisting team members during peak periods.
- Receive mentorship from the Destination Communication and Customer Experience team to help you succeed.
This isn’t just an apprenticeship; it’s the start of a rewarding career in graphic design with a supportive team that wants to see you succeed. Here’s what we’re offering:
- full-time position for up to 48 months, commencing January 2026
- competitive starting salary from $33,962 to $64,228 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
- salary progression based on successful completion of training and strong on-the-job performance
- course fees covered - we’ll take care of the cost of your Certificate III
- earn while you learn
- enjoy a 9-day fortnight (70 hours per fortnight) for better work/life balance
- ongoing training and professional development to help you grow your skills and career
- supportive environment with coaching, mentoring, and guidance from experienced professionals
- attractive employment conditions - and plenty more perks
We are seeking
We’re looking for someone who’s curious, capable and eager to dive in. If that sounds like you, you’re already off to a great start.
What we’re looking for:
- A genuine interest for graphic design and a strong desire to build a long-term career in the industry
- Motivation and commitment to completing a Certificate qualification while gaining hands-on experience through on-the-job training in a supportive team environment
