Overview

Kinokuniya Bookstores of Australia is the largest retail bookstore in the Asia Pacific region, with over 80 operations worldwide. Located in the heart of Sydney CBD, we pride ourselves on being the largest bookstore in Australia with expansive space and specialised departments spanning from Comics to Art and Design.

Kinokuniya will soon be opening a brand-new store in a new location. Thus, we are looking for a Store Manager to manage a close-knit team of up to 15 staff.

This is a dynamic, exciting and challenging operations role for someone with an understanding of the Book Industry and experience managing a diverse team.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Oversee the day-to-day store operations including floor procedures, protocol and stocktaking;
- Open and close the store as required, ensuring all operational procedures are followed;
- Coordinate floor presentation, promotions, and display rotations;
- Perform and model high standards of customer service;
- Organise staff replacement, rostering and payroll;
- Conduct new staff training and ongoing training;
- Achieve book selling sales targets;
- Conduct performance reviews routinely;
- Liaise with centre management;
- Manage and organise operational of Kinokuniya promotions and events;
- Attend meetings with the managing director;
- Other ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have:

- Preferably experience in the Book Industry (book store/book publisher)
- Minimum 2-3 years of retail management experience
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Experience in databases and inventory systems
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Intermediate MS office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
