Position Information
Erskine Park High School is a comprehensive Western Sydney school located in the Eastern Creek network of schools. The school’s 810 enrolment includes 5% of students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and a further 30% of students who come from backgrounds where English is an Additional Language or Dialect. The school also has an Inclusive Education program (Support Unit) made up of seven classes. Key whole school initiatives include a focus on explicit and visible teaching and learning in all classrooms; high expectations regarding student behaviour; innovative wellbeing programs; extensive professional learning opportunities to develop the capacity of all staff to enhance their classroom practice; vocational education opportunities for students and an inclusive school culture. The school is a member of the St Clair Erskine Park network of schools and connections with our community are highly valued.
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, a highly approachable leader with proven ability to foster a positive, inclusive school culture through authentic relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community. Ability to work collaboratively with all staff and as a member of the senior executive team to drive continuous improvement and strategically lead whole school initiatives to improve student outcomes with an emphasis on high expectations for all. Demonstrated leadership ability to build staff capacity through high impact professional practice leading to improved student outcomes and outstanding leadership capacity, knowledge and skills in the management of complex individual student learning and wellbeing needs, ensuring student social-emotional wellbeing and academic success at a whole-school level.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
