Intelligence Analyst and Assessment Officer
The Security, Integrity and Assurance branch is responsible for the delivery of the department’s integrated protective security and integrity frameworks. We prevent, detect, and respond to security incidents, suspected misconduct, fraud and corruption, and develop unique insights to proactively identify and mitigate risks to the department and its operations.
The Intelligence and Insider Threat Section discovers, prevents, mitigates and manages potential harm, adverse personnel behaviours and physical security threats which could impact the department’s people, its reputation, operations, resources, and information. The section develops and provides intelligence insights to inform and educate relevant areas across the department on current threats and vulnerabilities.
The Assessment & Assurance Section provides a ‘one-front door’ to receive and triage all integrity and security reports or incidents. The section conducts comprehensive assessments in relation to complaints, reports, concerns or issue to determine the most appropriate response.
The Job
The Security, Integrity and Assurance branch are seeking to fill multiple positions (current and expected future vacancies) in the following roles:
- APS5 Intelligence Analyst
- APS5 Assessment Officer
As an Intelligence Analyst you will have the opportunity to:
- provide support to senior analysts through analysing a wide range of information to inform intelligence assessment, identify issues and provide recommendations
- utilise analytical tools and techniques to define, structure and solve complex problems
- present findings/insights and recommendations to stakeholders and senior leaders in a clear and concise manner
- be accountable under minimal direction to perform complex information and cyber security work within an integrated workforce
- manage insider threat risks through proactive assurance work to ensure the security and integrity of our department assets and operations
As an Assessment Officer you will have the opportunity to:
- assess reports of suspected misconduct, fraud, corruption and potential security breaches
- collect information and evidence to support the assessment and resolution of integrity and security reports
- draft quality, evidence-based recommendations for relevant decision-making bodies
- provide impartial advice to employees and managers on the Integrity and Security hotline
- establish and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders across the department and external partners
- identify and analyse risk against integrity and security controls
What are we looking for
Knowledge and experience
The following knowledge and demonstrated experience is desirable:
Intelligence Analyst:
- Experience in intelligence and research related fields is desirable
- Experience with researching, collating and analysing information and draft quality intelligence products
Assessment Officer:
- Experience with researching, collating and analysing information
- Ability to develop quality evidence-based recommendations for relevant decision-making bodies
- Experience in working under limited direction to undertake risk assessments and escalate complex and sensitive matters where required
