The Role
Southern River College is seeking a permanent full-time teacher for the RISE program. There is capacity for this position to be offered as 0.8 FTE to provide flexibility for applicants. The RISE program re-engages and supports senior school students through their WACE journey and aims to help students commence their post-school careers. The successful applicant will be able to teach Math Essentials, General English, and General Careers & Employability.

Information session

An information session for prospective applicants will be held on Wednesday 17 September 2025 at 4pm in the Library at Southern River College. The session will include an overview from the College Executive Team and RISE Program staff about the program structure and goals, with an opportunity to ask questions. As one of two teachers in the RISE program you will engage a small group of senior school students as they progress through their WACE journey. Applicants with a broad generalist skill set and experience are encouraged to apply.

There is support to attain and deliver a Certificate II in Workplace Skills qualification. A committed VET team will assist in delivering quality vocational and workplace learning outcomes for students in the RISE program. You will need to develop and apply trauma-informed practice, and knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) frameworks will be well regarded. Knowledge of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and Instructional Strategies for Engagement (ISE) will also be advantageous.

Eligibility

- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start
