About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity to join the senior leadership team at BHP Prominent Hill as the Manager Processing where you will provide foundational leadership and oversight of the Processing facilities.
- Process plant and tailings dam day to day operations, through the Production Superintendent and operations team.
- Metallurgical performance of the plant, with direct reporting of the Metallurgy Superintendent and metallurgy team.
- Tailings facility technical oversight, management and development with direct report being the senior tailings engineer (RTFE).
You will draw upon your extensive and broad skills gained in various strategic leadership and operational roles within the mining industry. This role will also continue to build upon the existing culture of safety excellence and optimal operational delivery within BHP Copper SA.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of physicals, OPEX / CAPEX and budgets and inputs for the LOM development.
- Metal accounting and reconciliation of the Processing facility feeding into broader site reconciliation processes.
- Fostering a culture of technical and operational continuous improvement including the integration of new technologies to maximise value generated at the Prominent Hill asset.
- Compliance with all regulatory requirements associated with the operation and development of the Prominent Hill TSF.
- Core member of the site senior leadership team, delivering effective aligned leadership to the Prominent Hill asset.
- Critical risk management, including the safety of all persons operating in and around the Processing facilities at Prominent Hill.
- Safe delivery of relines and mill liner management in the scope of the maintenance shutdowns.
- Working with stakeholders to ensure key business outcomes are met or exceeded, including product specifications and inputs.
About You
Exceptional technical expertise complimented by a diverse operational mining background will certainly be advantageous. Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills will also be critical in ensuring you build effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the business.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or related discipline.
- Development of processes and procedures to enable safe and efficient operations.
- Works independently, apply initiatives and develop solutions and recommendations.
- Highly developed problem solving and planning skills.
- Effective leadership skills – to support a culture of improvement, measurement and self-development.
- Experience in the management and operation of tail dams.
