Summary:
Springwood Cottage Resort ("Springwood") is seeking an Event Planner and Marketing Manager. This newly developed role will report directly to the owners and will oversee the day-to-day operations of events and marketing. Springwood continues its journey of developing, operationalizing, and growing its business. This is a key senior role to help build and expand the business, working directly with the owners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Guest Experiences, Events & Marketing functions at Springwood. They will ensure that every aspect of our guests' experience—from initial inquiry to departure—is exceptional, encouraging repeat visits and positive reviews.
This role involves varying focus throughout the year, with no two days being the same. As a new role, it can evolve over time based on skills and interests. Housing may be provided as part of the total compensation package. This is not a standard Monday to Friday 9-5 position; weekend, evening, and holiday coverage will be required during peak periods and events.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the efficient and top-quality execution of the following functions, including planning, documentation, inventory management, communication, execution, staff oversight, contractor coordination, and success measurement:
Guest Experiences and Events:
- Assist wedding couples in planning their weddings
- Plan, promote, staff, and coordinate guest activities that vary seasonally
- Coordinate special events (group events, weddings, retreats, etc.), ensuring a personal touch that leads to successful, profitable events and rave reviews
- Develop and execute special events and programs to grow the business
Marketing:
- Update website content
- Manage and update online guest booklets
- Create and post social media content
- Plan and develop email promotions and newsletters
- Coordinate special event promotions
- Produce marketing materials
- Order branded merchandise
The "Ideal" Candidate:
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality or Marketing, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in hospitality or service industry
- At least 1 year experience in developing social media, website, and marketing content, with familiarity with MailChimp or similar tools
- Passion for hospitality and cottage life in Ontario
- Enjoys problem-solving and contributing to business growth
- Leads by example, inspiring teammates and staff
- Prefers variety in work and is comfortable on their feet on uneven grounds
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, creative, leadership, and management skills; highly trustworthy (pass a police check)
Bonus:
- Camp counselor experience or comfort leading children's activities
- Strong knowledge and passion for board games
