About the role

Mater Pathology is currently inviting applications for casual Courier team members to join our team based at the South Brisbane Campus. This position may involve participation in a rotating roster across a 24-hour, 7-day schedule. The first courier run commences at 6:00am with services operating until 11:00pm Monday to Friday, and across weekends.

As a Mater Pathology Courier, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the timely and secure transport of specimens during the pre-analytical stage. Your contribution directly supports the delivery of high-quality samples for testing, which is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective patient treatment.

- Receive assignments via navigational systems or telephone
- Collection of blood samples from Mater Pathology Collection Centre, Doctor Surgeries and Nursing Homes.
- Registration of samples using pre-analytical tracking system
- Maintain equipment, consumables and work areas in a clean, safe and well-resourced state.
- Deliver customer experience of a high standard by ensuring a professional appearance and positive personal interactions.
- Promoting the philosophy of health care and values of Mater Health Service
- Providing excellent patient care and a strong commitment to customer service
- Maintaining quality of service as per ISO 17025 accreditation and AS/NZS ISO/9001 2000 standards

About you

- A valid Open Queensland Driving License with a clean driving history
- A good understanding of traffic patterns
- Availability for AM, PM and week-end shifts
- Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Have strong communication skills, including good customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Good understanding of patient confidentiality
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team environment
