Vendor Manager, New Project
Join our innovative new team within Retail and help shape the future of a groundbreaking new project at Amazon
Amazon's Retail team is looking for a Vendor Manager. This role will be part of our exciting new project launch team with the opportunity to be part of the initial team that builds this new business lane from the ground up. If you're inspired by a new challenge and want to make your mark on a rapidly growing business, this position may be for you.
As a Vendor Manager, you'll be a passionate customer and vendor advocate within Amazon. We're looking for candidates that possess strong negotiation and analytical skills, together with proven commercial knowledge and experience. This role requires a strategic leader with the right mix of product management and vendor management that can work with existing category teams and vendors to champion our new project, bringing relevant selection and competitive prices. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a high level of flexibility and commitment.
To excel in this role, you will leverage:
1. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to earn trust and influence as well as to hold stakeholders, often more senior than you, accountable for high standards
2. Learning-based problem-solving: breaking down issues into work streams, working backwards from key deadlines
3. Advanced program management skills, with a strong sense of accountability for outcomes
4. Advanced analytical skills – deep diving to identify opportunities
5. Comfort managing a wide variety of projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced and ambiguous business environment
6. Willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and operate with limited guidance
7. Strong commercial and people judgment
8. Analytical ability to think both strategically and tactically.
Key job responsibilities
1. Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and partner teams
2. Analyze data and metrics to drive continuous improvement
3. Manage project timelines and deliverables
4. Develop and implement process optimizations
A day in the life
You'll collaborate with diverse teams to identify opportunities, solve complex problems, and deliver results. Your day might include analyzing performance metrics, facilitating cross-functional meetings, and developing strategic recommendations to enhance our customer experience.
About the team
We are a collaborative and innovative team focused on building new retail experiences. Our inclusive environment encourages creative thinking and empowers team members to contribute meaningful solutions that shape our future growth.
- 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience
- 3+ years of Excel experience
- Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing large data sets and utilizing them to drive performance and process improvements
- Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development
