About the Role

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a skilled Senior Signal Maintainer to join the Networks and Infrastructure – Signals Project Team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Signal Projects Supervisor, this role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced tradespeople and infrastructure maintenance workers with expertise in power and mechanical signalling equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assists in the coordination the signal project maintainer team to ensure all maintenance and repair work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required standards, while supporting team members and maintaining accurate records.
- Undertakes tasks required for installation, decommissioning and removal of signalling infrastructure, plant and equipment.
- Erects and positions all signalling structures and equipment along the railway, including set out from plans.
- Operate and maintain a range of tools, vehicles (including HR-X class trucks where licensed), and specialised construction machinery to install signalling infrastructure, ensuring all equipment remains safe and operational.
- Adhere to and enforce PTA safety policies, procedures, and regulations on site, including working safely near live rail, at heights, and in confined spaces, to maintain a safe environment for all personnel.
- Prepare reports, manage stock and internal records, order supplies, and provide supervision and training to junior signal maintainers.
- Maintain required qualifications and track access accreditation to ensure ongoing compliance.

About You

- Demonstrated experience in signalling construction, fault finding, repairs, and related machinery systems.
- Strong ability to safely and effectively organise and carry out installation and repair work.
- Accredited in Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, and holds a Construction Industry White Card, with sound knowledge of railway operations, Rail Safety rules, OSH requirements, and PTA procedures.
- Well-developed literacy and numeracy skills with attention to detail in measurements and reporting.

Possession of a current Western Australian ’C’ Class Driver’s Licence or equivalent for at least 2 years (or an ‘LR’ or ‘MR’ Class Drivers licence for at least 1 year). This requirement continues for the duration of employment in this position and produced on request by the PTA when required
