Albert Park College opened in 2011 with a year 7 enrolment capped at 150 students and the new college has been developed as a Year 7-12 college. The College is multi campus and located in a prized inner city location. Incorporating recycled materials, indigenous flora, and natural light and ventilation, our buildings and grounds reflect our communities belief in environmental sustainability.
The new buildings feature a 21st century learning environment with open plan classrooms. All staff will be expected to teach in teams in the open plan environment.
As a designated Apple Mac school all staff will be expected to be familiar with the use of Apple computers / devices as an integral part of their teaching and learning.
The school offers two streams: general co-educational entry, and a Select Entry Accelerated Learning program that offers places to up to 50 students based on an entrance test and interview.
There are three key themes driving the culture of the new college - a celebration of arts and culture, scientific and mathematical exploration and the development of outstanding leadership capabilities.
The school also offers an Accelerated Arts program and is developing an excellent music program with a stage band, concert band and ensembles.

Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrate high level instrumental technique with focus on development of classical technical skills and repertoire performance.
SC2: Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning data and to use this data to inform teaching for improved student learning.
SC3: Demonstrated ability to assistteaching staff to integrate aural skill development into instrumental lessons for improved student outcomes from a classical, contemporary and improvisation perspective.
SC4: Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents and other staff.
SC5: Demonstrate the ability to arrange and compose music catered for appropriate student levels within an ensemble context.
SC6: Demonstrated commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities and a commitment to ongoing professional learning to enable further development of skills, expertise and teaching capacity.
SC7: A high level ability or commitment to developing ICT based skills in an all Apple e-learning environment and undertake timetabling students, attendance and basic administration responsibilities aligned with their teaching load.

Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy.Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3.Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility.Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases.Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.
This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years.Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered.Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Responsibilities
Albert Park College has a dynamic music program and requires aGuitar Instructor to deliver solo and group lessons.
The position will involve instructing group and individual lessons in guitar from beginner to advanced levels. The successful candidate will also be responsible for preparing students for a range of concerts, performances and assemblies.
A focus on developing a strong technical foundation and musical characteristics as well as the applicant providing students with a grounding in diverse musical styles is required. An active professional background as a performer will be highly regarded.
Applicants should display a positive collegiate attitude and an ability to work within a supportive instrumental team that is available for a variety of performances through the year and information sessions for instrumental music program recruitment events.
