Job Opportunity

Are you passionate about creating exceptional digital experiences and shaping the future of online shopping? We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our dynamic team and lead the design efforts across our digital platforms, including the Kmart and Target apps and websites. This role is essential to driving customer engagement, achieving our ambitious business goals, and ensuring our digital products remain at the forefront of innovation.

As a Principal Product Designer, you will be at the heart of our digital transformation efforts. Reporting to the Head of Product and Design, you will play a critical role in delivering key outcomes for our app and online trade. You will lead high impact projects, operationally support trade activities, and drive the development of new features such as pre-order functionality and online experimentation.

Responsibilities

- Lead and Manage a Team: Oversee and mentor a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Provide guidance and support to navigate challenges and deliver exceptional design solutions.
- Drive End-to-End Experiences: Ensure the creation of consistent and thoughtful end-to-end customer experiences for Kmart and Target online shoppers. Focus on enhancing user satisfaction and driving profitability.
- Identify and Improve Customer Journeys: Work across functions to identify critical customer journeys and implement strategies to improve them, enhancing the overall customer experience.
- Support Digital Trade Activities: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to make necessary changes to the website and apps, supporting trade activities and ensuring a seamless online shopping experience.
- Innovate and Experiment: Lead the development and implementation of new capabilities, including pre-order functionality and experimentation across online channels, to keep our digital products competitive and user-friendly.
- Advocate for Customer-Centricity: Promote a customer-centric culture across the organization, ensuring that all design efforts align with the needs and expectations of our users.

Requirements

Experience in a similar role, with a strong background in retail and customer-facing products or services. Experience in digital design for e-commerce is highly regarded.

Exposure to end-to-end design processes, from research and discovery through to delivery and measurement. Experience with human-centered design processes and methodologies.

Proven ability to work effectively in a high-activity environment with competing priorities and time pressures.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate with influence. Outstanding stakeholder management skills are essential.

Experience leading and managing design teams, with a focus on mentoring, supporting, and driving team success.
