About the Role
The Payroll Officer provides accurate, timely and efficient payroll services to the NSW Electoral Commission Staff Agency and Election Officials in accordance with business, legislative, taxation and audit requirements.
The role is an Ongoing Full-time position.

- Running and regulating elections
- Communicating and engaging with current and future voters, key NSW community stakeholders and NSW election participants; and
- Investigating possible offences and enforcing electoral and lobbying laws such as the Electoral Act 2017 and the Electoral Funding Act 2018.

Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience in payroll processing preferably in a large or complex payroll function.
- Knowledge of the public sector employment framework including the legislation, statutory instruments,awards, and Government policies and guidelines.
- Politically neutral with no affiliation to political parties or lobbyists/campaigners.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record check result.
How to apply
As part of your application, you will be asked to respond to the two targeted questions:
- During election periods, a large number of temporary/casual staff come on board and payroll volumes increase significantly. What strategies would you implement to ensure all staff are paid accurately and on time during these peak periods? (maximum 300 words)
- Describe a time when you identified a payroll error where it was not compliant with legislative requirements, eg industrial award or taxation obligations. What actions did you take to resolve it and what did you to prevent it from recurring? (maximum 300 words)
You should include a covering letter summarising your skills, knowledge and work experience, along with an up-to-date resume which clearly detail your skills and experience as relevant to this role.

This role is based in at our Elizabeth Street, Sydney office with a hybrid work arrangement.
