Overview

WesTrac is on the lookout for a skilled and motivated Team Leader to join our General Construction Workshop in Tomago. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a technical background and a passion for driving team performance in a dynamic workshop environment.

In this role, you will lead a team of technicians working on a diverse range of quarry and civil equipment—including excavators, graders, skid-steers, and loaders. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring high standards of safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

As a Team Lead with WesTrac you will be responsible for:

- Leading, supporting and helping to coordinate a team of workshop technicians to deliver outstanding results.
- Ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
- Fostering a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
- Driving team performance by promoting best practices and ensuring compliance with company policies, quality assurance standards, and legal requirements.
- Supporting fault diagnosis and assisting with repairs.

Roster and Remuneration

- Rotating roster of 2 weeks of days and 2 weeks of nights (Mon-Fri)
- Day Shift: 5:30AM - 4:00PM
- Night Shift: 3:00PM to 1:30AM
- Annual earnings from $146,700+ | Hourly rates from $56+ | Overtime rates from $84+

Note: above rates are a guide; each candidate will be assessed on skills and experience.

Skills & Experience

- Certificate III Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology OR Cert III Mobile Plant qualification (Australian Recognised)
- Leadership experience with the ability to build a cohesive team with a common goal
- Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and organise teams
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment (desired)
- Strong commitment to meeting customer requirements
- Excellent diagnostic and repair skills and a strong commitment to service excellence
- Excellent attitude to your work, and dedication to safe work practice
- Solutions focused mindset and ability to adapt to changing requirements
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
