About the role
The West Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Intake Worker is instrumental in creating and providing a timely and positive experience for clients accessing the Mental health and Wellbeing Local in Brimbank, Maribyrnong and Wyndham.
The Intake Worker is the designated point of contact for all potential clients, their families and/or representatives and will assess and coordinate incoming and outgoing referrals within relevant programs and services.
The hours for this role are:
- Monday 10 - 6pm
- Tuesday (flexible 8am or 10am start)
- Friday 8:00 - 4:00pm

- Conduct Intake screening and referral coordination, including assessing, monitoring, reviewing and allocating incoming referrals
- Ensure that urgent matters are transferred quickly and effectively in line with Intake procedure
- Enter information and data into relevant data management systems in an accurate and timely manner
- Manage the seamless flow of clients to services including assisting people to identify their support needs and develop a pathway through the West Local Integrated Model

- A tertiary level degree in Social Work, or a related discipline or extensive experience working in the community services sector
- A thorough understanding of Mental Health intake and assessment

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.
Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
