About Our Role

- Operations based, hands-on Quality Tech opportunity
- Implement and maintain functionality of the site QMS and Simplot's food safety requirements
- Permanent full-time position, Kelso based

Here at Simplot Kelso we have an opportunity for a Quality Technologist to join our site based Quality team. Simplot Kelso is our seafood and snacking processing plant, producing approx. 50 tonnes of product daily (75 SKUs) for the retail and foodservice markets including Birds Eye, I&J and Captain's Catch branded products. The site employs approx. 120 local employees, with approximately 95% of manufactured goods consisting of either Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seafood.

Reporting to the QA Manager and working as part of the QA team, this Monday to Friday (start time between 0400-0500 AM daily) role will contribute significantly to the implementation, maintenance and correct functioning of the facility's Quality Systems and Simplot's Food Safety requirements.

What You Will Do

As a key member of the Quality team, duties will include but are not limited to:

- Drive existing and emerging Food Safety and Quality processes and systems across a busy food manufacturing site
- Participate in the development of site Food Safety culture programs and drive quality continuous improvement (CI) initiatives towards First Time Quality
- Monitor the planning and execution of robust site hygiene and sanitation activities, as well as the maintenance of the environmental pathogen monitoring program
- Conduct Food Safety and Quality validation and verification activities, including the sampling and testing of product and internal auditing of the Quality Management System
- Carry out trend analysis & reporting of results and key measures of Food Safety and Quality
- Influence the building of Production Operator capabilities, including training and verification of SOPs, with respect to hygiene and sanitation activities

About You

Bringing a passion for quality excellence and with a mindset towards continuous improvement (CI) - the successful candidate will possess the following attributes;

- QA experience within a food manufacturing environment will be highly regarded (though not mandatory)
- Tertiary qualifications in Science/Food Technology are advantageous
- Sound knowledge of both operational and regulatory GMP requirements
- You have an understanding of Quality Management Systems, and experience in interpreting and meeting regulatory and customer standards requirements
- Working across a diverse team, you are collaborative and process driven, whilst also being a true influencer throughout the business at all levels
- Possess high attention to detail skill set
- Be a self-starter and driven, with time management focus
- Intermediate user of MS Office suite of products (Excel, BI, Word, Outlook etc)
