Overview
We are seeking to establish a pool of Teachers – Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Oberthur Primary School (PS), an Independent Public School, is in a quiet area of Bull Creek and has a traditionally strong community involvement. The school population of 650 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 has a mix of cultural backgrounds and English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) is a feature, particularly in the early years. The school is set in attractive surroundings with many trees, shade, and well-maintained gardens.
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate educators, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. Inclusivity and differentiation, and exemplary classroom teaching experience are important in ensuring the students achieve the best possible outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
As K-6 School Teachers, you should be prepared to:
- participate in weekly meetings involving whole school and collaborative phase planning, curriculum development and professional learning opportunities
- attend regular Collaborative Year Level Team meetings
- contribute to high-level teaching, learning and assessment processes developed through collaborative teams and practices, peer observation and feedback
- engage in scheduled meetings with leadership team to develop Western Australian Curriculum knowledge, implementation and moderation
- collaborate within year level teams to support planning, moderation and achievement of standards
Qualifications and Capabilities
All classrooms are equipped with an Interactive Screen and common software. Students in Years 4–6 participate in a one-to-one MacBook program; Years 1–3 have a one-to-one iPad program. Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classrooms have a pod of iPads. ICT skills are an integral part of teaching practices. All teaching staff are issued an iPad to support planning, collaboration, learning program implementation, assessment and communication.
Oberthur has a Chinese Language Program, including a Chinese Immersion (bilingual) Program in all Pre-Primary to Year 6, along with Music and Physical Education specialist areas. Pedagogy is influenced by John Hattie’s Visible Learning, Solo Taxonomy, Bloom and First Steps. Practice includes a common lesson design structure, Literacy and Numeracy blocks, explicit teaching, and moderation of judgements aligned to achievement standards and content descriptions. We also have Project Plans in Science.
