School Learning Support Officer (Full Time) – Kingscliff Public School
Location: Regional NSW, Kingscliff Public School, 470 students (8% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander). Full‑time, 1.0 FTE.
Role Overview
School Learning Support Officers (SLSO) provide support for students with diverse learning needs, including disability, under the direction of a teacher. The role includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities and may cover specialized streams such as pre‑school, vision, hearing and bilingual support.
Essential Requirements
- Working with Children Check Clearance.
- Completion of mandatory Department of Education training and willingness to undertake first‑aid training relevant to the SLSO role.
- Training in medication administration, provided as per student needs.
- Health support training, provided as per student needs (subject to transition provisions).
Specific Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
- Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
- Effective communication skills.
