Position Overview: Mygration is engaged to source the following position for our client
As the Head of Logistics, you will be the operational linchpin, responsible for the entire journey of our client's products from processing to the customer's door. This is a critical leadership role where you will design, implement, and refine the strategies that underpin their cold chain logistics, inventory management, and procurement functions. You will ensure that the integrity and quality of their premium free-range pork are maintained throughout the supply chain, guaranteeing optimal freshness and meeting stringent delivery windows. This position requires a blend of strategic vision and practical execution, leading a team to achieve excellence in a fast-paced, perishable goods environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Supply Chain & Inventory Strategy:
• Develop, implement, and continuously monitor comprehensive strategies for procurement, cold storage, and national distribution, aligning with business growth objectives and the unique requirements of a premium perishable product.
• Prepare and execute detailed inventory plans to maintain optimal stock levels of both raw materials and finished goods, meticulously balancing supply with forecasted demand to minimise waste and cost without compromising on availability.
• Oversee and refine robust recording and tracking systems to provide full visibility over all stock movements, from primary cuts to value-added products, ensuring data-driven re-ordering and re-stocking at optimal times.

Supplier & Customer Relationship Management:
• Lead the negotiation and management of contracts with a diverse range of suppliers, including packaging, logistics partners, and ancillary service providers, ensuring they meet stringent quality, cost, and delivery specifications.
• Proactively liaise with internal departments—including sales, production, and farming operations—to seamlessly coordinate requirements for outward goods, ensuring order accuracy and alignment with production schedules.
• Serve as a key point of contact for customers concerning complex logistics requirements, including specialised forwarding and transportation needs for national distribution.

Team Leadership & Operational Excellence:
• Provide inspirational leadership, direction, and daily management to the logistics and procurement teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
• Direct staff activities across purchasing, warehousing, and dispatch, monitoring performance against key metrics and implementing training and development initiatives to enhance team capability.
• Oversee the accurate recording of all purchase, storage, and distribution transactions, ensuring integrity in data and compliance with financial and regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Skills Required
• Proven and extensive experience (5+ years) in a senior logistics, supply chain, or distribution management role, preferably within the FMCG, food manufacturing, or perishable goods sectors.
• A demonstrable track record of developing and implementing successful purchasing, storage, and distribution strategies that have resulted in tangible cost savings and efficiency gains.
• Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills, with experience in managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers and cold chain transport partners.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with inventory management systems (ERP/WMS) to track stock movements, manage SKU data, and generate insightful reports.
• Outstanding leadership and people management abilities, with a passion for mentoring teams and driving performance in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, able to troubleshoot issues swiftly and ensure the seamless flow of goods from warehouse to customer.
