About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Red Ochre Automation & Sensors Program based at Sydney – NSW reporting to the Project Engineering Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for supporting the PEM, Lead Engineer and broader project engineering team to ensure contracted engineering services are delivered to meet project performance in terms of quality, schedule and budget as well as operational mission needs.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Provide core contract engineering services:
- Apply knowledge and understanding to engineering theories, concepts, practices, principals and approaches in a range of standard products and services, resolve technical & performance issues and problems.
- Design and develop solutions to a limited range of engineering situations, problems and issues within the scope of Consolidated Contract. Obtain confirmation beyond reasonable doubt by review, surveillance and audit that those assumptions, underpinning engineering data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results have been validated.
- Undertake tasks associated with:
- Product testing, bench testing defence equipment
- Documentation updates (e.g. PIRR/EE400). Maintain the design documentation in accordance with the applicable configuration management, change management and traceability processes.
- CAMM2
- Modification Order / Installation Order / Deviation
- Helpdesk requests
- Action items arising from customer meetings
- Independently review peers' work as required, identify technical risks and unknowns and support planning activities.
- Support the Service Centre and supply chain as required (e.g. equivalency analysis, material sourcing, kit lists, goods inspection, procurement, RFDs).
- Provide Ad-hoc engineering services:
- Develop engineering estimations for S&Qs, NTE's or Minor Bids.
- Provide a supporting role or championing role for ad-hoc engineer tasks as directed by Lead Engineers or PEM.
- Conduct engineering requirement analysis, detailed design, implementation, test and evaluation and integration of ad-hoc projects.
- Travel to BAE and Defence owned sites to perform engineering duties for ad-hoc engineering tasks.
About YOU
- A background in electrical engineering is considered desirable
- Tertiary qualification in engineering is considered desirable
- Expertise in radio frequency (RF), Systems engineering, testing and documentation is considered desirable for this role
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1 Status
