Senior Salesforce DevOps Engineer

Location: ACT

Working arrangements: Hybrid – Minimum 3 days in Canberra office plus 2 days remote (or interstate) may be considered case‑by‑case. Must be able to attend Canberra office in‑person 3 days per week.

Security clearance: Must obtain Negative Vetting Level 1.

Job Summary: The Commercial Application and Delivery Section within DFAT’s Information Management and Technology Division requires a labour‑hire Salesforce Solution Lead. You will lead one or more teams of Salesforce developers to deliver on project requirements, from kick‑off to go‑live, working closely with customers, business analysts, and architects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Interpret and assess business needs to design tailored Salesforce solutions aligned with client objectives.

- Develop and present solution prototypes and technical designs, demonstrating feasibility and value.

- Lead the technical Salesforce delivery team to a successful implementation and delivery.

- Review developers’ implementations, champion best practice and out‑of‑the‑box solutions, and recommend improvements.

- Ensure project delivery meets Federal Government technology requirements, including Cyber Security Information Security Manual controls and Archives act records management.

- Manage the delivery of multiple concurrent system development projects from design through release.

- Define project‑level delivery activities and milestones within an agile environment.

- Manage Salesforce releases through the CI/CD pipeline using DFAT’s Azure Dev Ops tooling.

- Ensure quality of production environments by collaborating with other Solution Leads on common components, release windows, and enforcing unit tests and code quality checks.

- Manage Salesforce development environments, including test data seeding and refreshes.

Essential Criteria

1. Minimum 5+ years experience in a leading role delivering enterprise‑level Salesforce projects.

2. Specialist ICT skills:

- Deep technical expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura, and front‑end technologies (JavaScript, HTML/CSS).

- Strong proficiency in declarative configurations such as Flows, Permission Sets, and Security Models.

- Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud, ideally within the Public Sector Cloud, including case management and omni‑channel routing.

- Strong capability in Salesforce solution design, including preparing technical documentation, solution diagrams, and aligning with enterprise architecture and compliance frameworks.

- Experience tracking and troubleshooting errors in development, configuration, and deployment.

- Experience managing releases through Azure Dev Ops CI/CD Pipeline.

3. Excellent communication skills and experience making persuasive, evidence‑based recommendations to decision‑makers.

4. Minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.

Desirable Criteria

1. Portal and console interface design using Salesforce Lightning and Omnistudio.

2. Experience implementing and maintaining an Azure Dev Ops CI/CD Pipeline for a Salesforce workload.

3. Ability to attend Canberra office in‑person 3 days per week.

Additional Requirements

DFAT has a contractor stand‑down period within December and January each year, typically 4–6 weeks at DFAT’s discretion.
