Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic and passionate person with a commitment to excellence, to work as part of a small team and lead the financial accounting requirements for the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General (the Office).

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking or overseeing a range of business and accounting functions under the direction of the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and with the assistance of their staff. You are expected to have proven ability and demonstrated working experience in the accounting field, leadership and collaboration, and a capacity for clear and concise written and verbal communication in dealing with finance matters.

Responsibilities

- Preparation of financial statements
- Preparation of Portfolio Budget Statements
- Management of external audit activity
- Management and support for the Office's internal audits
- Management of the Office's Audit Committee function, including preparation of quarterly papers and Secretariat support
- Meeting external reporting requirements
- Oversight of accounting operations activities, including support for management accounting function as required
- Insurance, non-financial performance and risk management
- Development and implementation of accounting policy and procedures
- Contribute to projects and continuous improvement initiatives
