SUMMARY

This position is responsible for designing the electrical power distribution system for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Our voltage levels are primarily in the low-voltage side (600V and below) with equipment such as MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, and termination schedules.
2. Develop power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, and hazardous area classifications.
3. Perform calculations for sizing equipment (breakers, overload devices, relays), cables, conduits, equipment spacing, illumination levels, and maintain BOMs.
4. Develop and review electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).
5. Prepare purchase specifications for electrical equipment and select vendors for electrical packages.
6. Generate electrical drawing packages to document system logic, wiring, and interactions.
7. Interpret and design according to code requirements (NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.) and investigate applicable electrical codes.
8. Coordinate with vendors to ensure technical and schedule requirements are met.
9. Interpret and incorporate design requirements from the parent company.
10. Respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
11. Utilize SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SPI, and S3D for designing electrical power and control systems; experience with similar database-driven software is a plus.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Possess knowledge of electrical design systems for industrial facilities.
- Experience with power plants, especially with generators (150 MVA and above) for Gas or Steam Turbines, is preferred.
- Follow safety policies and report unsafe activities.
- Participate in team efforts and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Communicate effectively at all levels.
- Manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Ensure quality by following work instructions and identifying risks.
- Develop and coordinate project design schedules.
- Simplify designs to improve manufacturability and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Assist Sales, Marketing, and Engineering with product development projects.
- Meet project schedule requirements.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing and commissioning.
- Lead junior engineers and interns.
- Travel up to 10%.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least three (3) years of experience in industrial power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC). Five (5) years of experience is preferred. Familiarity with electrical codes such as NEC/NFPA 70, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, TUV, AGA is required. Programming skills are a plus.

SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE DESIRED

- Experience with SmartPlant Electrical, SPI, and S3D is highly desirable, especially in creation and modification of reports, symbols, filters, rules, and data maintenance.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or lighting software like DIALux or Visual is a plus.
