Full Time (Part time considered for the right applicant)
Mpower Inc. has an exciting opportunity with the introduction of a new leadership role within our Family Services team. Mpower Family Services delivers a suite of DFFH funded programs designed to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people by working in partnership with families to enhance their ability to support their children and maximise life opportunities. Our Family Services Practitioners play a vital role by ensuring that children, young people, and their families are effectively connected to the appropriate services and supports. Our Family Service’s work is family-led and child-centred, ensuring that the voices of parents, carers, young people, and children are heard and actively shape the supports they receive.
Who is Mpower
Mpower is a well-established, successful, accredited not-for-profit community based organisation servicing South West Victoria. Established in 1975, the operation of Mpower has grown from a small voluntary service to an accredited agency employing more than 95 staff, providing a range of clinical and support services to over 1200 families regionally. Vast growth over the last five years, including the introductions of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and expansion of community sector services has allowed us to develop responsive and complimentary services in our local community.
The Role
The Family Services Practitioner (Lead) will provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of Family Services Practitioners. This includes facilitating reflective practice, monitoring service quality, and advising staff on professional development to enhance their skills in working with families. In addition to these leadership responsibilities, the role will continue to deliver casework and in-home support to families experiencing challenges. As a Family Services Practitioner, the position will focus on developing tailored support plans, strengthening parenting confidence and capacity, and fostering healthier family relationships—ultimately creating better opportunities and outcomes for children.
The Family Services Practitioner (Lead) is offered up to Full Time and is flexible, allowing you the opportunity to work from any one of our Mpower sites (Warrnambool, Portland, or Hamilton) acknowledging that currently most staff work from the Warrnambool Office.
The ideal candidate will have experience and qualifications in Family Services and hold a Diploma of Community Services as a minimum qualification. Leadership and experience in facilitating and coaching staff to improve practice and outcomes for families is essential. The Family Services Practitioner (Lead) will work closely with the Coordinator Family Services around quality practice development needs and opportunities.
