[High Salary] Airport Grounds Maintenance

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Groundsperson to join our Operations team at Darwin International Airport (DIA). This hands-on role involves maintaining and improving the presentation, safety, and functionality of all airport grounds and infrastructure – both airside and landside.

About the Role

As a Groundsperson, your day-to-day tasks will include:

- General grounds maintenance: mowing, whipper snipping, mulching, weeding, litter collection, and tree care
- Application of herbicides and insecticides
- Minor repairs: fencing, roads, signage, pavements, irrigation systems
- Airside support: surface repairs, vegetation control, stockpile management
- Support for events, storm clean-ups, and emergency response
- Assisting with terminal maintenance and furniture moves
- Participation in the airport runway and apron repainting program
- Working alongside external contractors when required
- Compliance with all safety, security, and airport regulations

What You’ll Bring

Essential

- Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
- Skilled in operating and maintaining grounds equipment
- Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Knowledge of WHS practices
- Valid driver’s licence

Willingness and ability to obtain:

- Chemical Accreditation
- Airside Driver’s Licence
- First Aid Certificate
- Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and AFP clearance

Desirable

- Certificate in Horticulture, Landscaping, or related field
- Experience in secure or airport environments
- MR licence
- White Card
- Irrigation system maintenance experience
- Pest, weed, and vegetation management knowledge
- Familiarity with small engines and machinery
