Albright Institute of Business and Language delivers Vocational qualifications at Certificate levels, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and Graduate Diploma in Business, Marketing, IT, and Interpreting and Translation, and work in collaboration with various partners to deliver further services to their students such as student counselling, visa advisory, and accommodation.
Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our professional and dynamic team in our Melbourne campus located VIC 3000, Melbourne city. This is a full-time opportunity for the right candidate.
As a Systems Administrator, you will play a critical role in network administration, system maintenance, technical support, security management and technologies projects implementation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate prior experience in a similar environment, with previous experience in the same occupation or co-related fields. The role requires an excellent communication skills, organisation, decision-making skills, and multitasking skills who can work independently.
Some of the tasks are but not limited to:
Administer, maintain, and support the Institute’s campus-wide network environment, including Cisco CBS250/SG300 switches, Meraki MX84 firewalls, and Cisco ISR routers, to ensure stable and secure connectivity across all sites.
Manage and support Ubiquiti Unifi wireless infrastructure, including SSID configuration, access controls, bandwidth management, and performance optimisation to maintain consistent wireless coverage throughout campus facilities.
Monitor and maintain network performance and availability, performing routine checks, fault identification, and corrective actions to minimise service interruptions.
Administer and maintain server and computer systems, performing scheduled maintenance, updates, and upgrades to ensure ongoing operational stability and compliance with internal IT standards.
Manage and operate backup and disaster recovery processes, including QNAP NAS devices and hybrid cloud synchronisation with OneDrive for Business, and conduct routine recovery testing to support business continuity requirements.
Perform routine system patching and updates using tools such as WSUS and the Meraki cloud dashboard, ensuring systems remain secure and up to date.
Administer and support VMware vSphere ESXi (6.7 / 7.0) environments, including virtual machine provisioning, snapshot management, system availability monitoring, and disaster recovery preparedness.
Install, configure, and administer Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 environments, including Active Directory Domain Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file and print services.
Support the operation of SD-WAN and WAN connectivity, including monitoring TPG NBN/Fibre connections, site-to-site VPNs, failover configurations, and traffic optimisation between campuses.
Implement and maintain IT security controls, including VLAN segmentation, firewall rules, wireless security (WPA2-Enterprise), and endpoint protection solutions, in line with organisational security policies.
Monitor system and network health using appropriate tools to proactively identify performance issues, capacity constraints, or security risks.
Provide technical support to staff and users, troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and access issues to minimise downtime and ensure continuity of business operations.
Deliver ongoing IT support to over 400 users, including academic staff, administrative staff, trainers, and students, covering Microsoft Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 services, network access, and core application platforms.
Participate in and support IT projects and upgrades, including server migrations, wireless expansions, surveillance system implementations (NVR/IP cameras), and campus infrastructure improvements, ensuring smooth operational transition.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date IT documentation, including network diagrams, server layouts, asset registers, backup schedules, and access control records to support internal audits and compliance obligations.
Support the administration and transition of core education platforms, including the migration from an RTO-based Student Management System to a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring system continuity and user accessibility.
Skills Required:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM databases, Windows server, SD-WAN, NVR/IP Cameras, WPA2-Enterprise wireless encryption, Cisco CBS250/SG300 switches, Meraki MX84 firewalls, and Cisco ISR routers
Education and Previous Experience:
• Relevant tertiary education in the same field or co-related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Prior experience in a similar or co-related role required.
Working Arrangements:
• Job Type: Full-time & permanent
• From Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm
• 38 hours per week
• Salary: $80,000 annually plus superannuation
