Overview
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly residents living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
Responsibilities
- Supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
- Support people to meet their spiritual needs
Skills required
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training (e.g., Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education) or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training — Spiritual Care Series — in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
Your impact
Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience for both the person you visit and yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and reduce isolation.

Requirements
- 18 years or older
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
- One hour each week for 6 months or longer. We can discuss a suitable time between Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm.
