Job Description
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
We are looking for a compassionate volunteer to visit an elderly man who enjoys audiobooks, especially crime fiction, and has a rich background in farming, warehouse work, and public service.
A person of deep faith, he would value prayer, companionship, and someone who can listen with care.
You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
- Support people to meet their spiritual needs
Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training—Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Requirements
18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Sunday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
