The Role
Norwest Private Hospital is seeking a Neurosurgery Registrar (unaccredited) to work alongside several surgeons in our Neurosurgery department. You will gain exposure to various subspecialties and be responsible for managing patients on the ward and assisting at Neurosurgery operations.
Note - This role is a temporary 12-month appointment to start on 2 February 2026.
As the Neurosurgery Registrar your responsibilities will include:
- Provision of surgical assistant skills in the operating theatre to support the Accredited Visiting Medical Officer (VMO)
- Review patients in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit as required by and under the supervision of the Accredited VMO during business hours
- Review inpatients pre and post operatively at the request of the Accredited VMO during business hours
- Participate in Neurosurgery Department meetings
- Participate in clinical teaching opportunities
What you'll need to succeed
- AHPRA Registered Medical Practitioner with eligibility to work in Australia
- Third year postgraduate (PGY3) or above
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum of 12 months experience in specialty
- Recent experience working in Australia
- Previous neurosurgery JMO experience highly desirable
- Demonstrated commitment to entering the Neurosurgery training program
