Overview
James Taylor has been appointed managing director and chief executive officer of oOhmedia. He succeeds Cathy O’Connor, who advised of her intention to step down after more than four years leading the company. Taylor is expected to join oOhmedia in early 2026.
Taylor is currently the managing director of Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), Australia’s multicultural and multilingual public broadcaster. He has more than 25 years of experience in Australian media, including senior leadership roles at Deloitte, British Telecom and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, with a focus on corporate strategy, operational efficiency and organisational transformation.
Prior to becoming oOhmedia’s CEO, Taylor served as SBS’s chief financial officer for more than five years, overseeing finance, strategy, corporate services, legal, and people and culture. Since becoming SBS MD in 2018, he led digital and technology platform growth, notably SBS On Demand, delivering revenue growth and increased audience reach.
The appointment follows a comprehensive search conducted by the Board of oOhmedia with a leading global executive search firm. The Board believes Taylor is well positioned to lead oOhthrough its next multi-year strategy and growth phase.
Background on James Taylor

Earlier, he was a Director of Strategy Consulting at Deloitte and held senior roles at British Telecom and the ABC.
