
[High Salary] Principal Policy Officer

Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced Principal Policy professional to drive the development, review and implementation of integrated policies, legislation and programs within a complex government environment. Working within a proactive Strategy & Governance division, you will deliver high-quality advice that enables strategic planning, corporate reporting and legislative obligations to be met.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-level, evidence-based policy advice and options on complex issues for senior executives and stakeholders.
- Lead and contribute to end-to-end policy and legislative projects, including research, analysis, consultation and implementation.
- Prepare succinct briefs, submissions, Cabinet/committee papers, and executive reports.
- Monitor emerging issues, risks and trends to inform strategic responses and program improvements.
- Build productive relationships across internal teams and external agencies to align policy outcomes.
- Contribute to governance, planning and performance reporting frameworks and mentor junior team members.
Prerequisites & desirables
- Demonstrated success delivering complex policy or legislative initiatives in a government setting.
- Advanced research, critical analysis and problem-solving capability with an outcomes focus.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a track record producing high-quality executive materials.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Understanding of governance, strategic planning and performance reporting processes.
- Tertiary qualifications in public policy, law, governance or related discipline (highly regarded).
