About the opportunity:
- Full-time, Permanant position
- Based in North Sydney
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with product owners, delivery squads and business stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of data and reporting needs.
- Support the adoption and reinforcement of agile practices within the team.
- Identify opportunities to streamline data workflows and improve documentation, collaboration, or tooling practices, including maintaining and updating the data dictionary to ensure clarity of definitions and business rules.
- Assist in refining and maintaining the product backlog, ensuring stories are well-defined and ready for development.
- Work alongside delivery teams to break down features and initiatives into manageable user stories or tasks.
- Work alongside data engineers and product teams to define and document data transformations, lineage, and business logic within the data warehouse environment.
- Translate business and reporting needs into actionable data requirements—supporting both ad-hoc analysis and ongoing platform evolution.
Skills and Experience:
- 2–4 years' experience as a Data Business Analyst, preferably in digital media, marketing, analytics and agile product development teams.
- Familiarity with Agile principles (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like Jira or Confluence is desirable.
- Experience translating business requirements into data-focused user stories and acceptance criteria, or specifications.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, data analytics or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Hands-on experience with SQL, big data technologies, platforms such as Databricks and BI tools such as Power BI
- Agile or business analysis certifications (e.g. Scrum.org, IIBA) are desirable but not essential.
- Experience with Big Data, Databricks and BI tools is highly valued, we welcome applicants who are eager to learn and grow in these areas.
