About the role
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service provides a consultation-liaison psychiatry model for children, aged 0 to 17 years old, admitted to the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s (JKWC), linked with a Western Health paediatrician or who have presented to the paediatric emergency department.
The Mental Health Clinician will provide expert mental health care to children and their families as part of the Sunshine Child and Adolescent Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry Team.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing high quality mental health responses to children at the Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital (JKWCH)
- Delivering comprehensive mental health assessments in inpatient, outpatient and Emergency Departments
- Delivering evidence based therapeutic interventions including family work, work with parents and individual therapy
About you:
- Passionate meeting the mental health and wellbeing recovery needs of children and adolescents
- Previous clinical experience in delivering mental health and discipline specific interventions
- Ability to engage and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
- High level of verbal and written communications

Western Health also provides the primary healthcare service at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, a women’s prison located in Ravenhall.
