Urgent Search: Financial Controller

Your new role

As the Financial Controller at NAR, you'll be responsible for managing day-to-day transactional finance operations across the group, overseeing internal financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and internal requirements. You'll lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, be a true business partner to key stakeholders to drive business planning, cashflow forecasting, and P&L integrity. From managing month-end to supporting audits and championing financial systems improvements, you'll play a critical role in the success and growth of the business.

Day-to-day you'll be:

- Leading, mentoring and developing the transactional finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
- Managing month-end close, variance analysis, cashflow forecasting and preparation of board packs
- Overseeing AR, AP, bank reconciliations and payroll, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements
- Maintaining the integrity of financial data within the ERP system (Apparel21) and updating customer, supplier and product records
- Reviewing and lodging BAS, maintaining insurance compliance and supporting debtor insurance risk management
- Supporting the Finance Director with external audits, preparing audit schedules, and addressing audit queries
- Partnering with key stakeholders across the group to support P&L understanding and business goal setting
- Producing and updating internal accounting papers in line with IAS/AASB standards, ensuring team compliance
- Identifying and driving adoption of innovative financial practices and technology to improve reporting, analysis and efficiency
- Keeping the Finance Director informed with regular updates on AR, AP, cashflow and any material risks

You'll thrive in this role if you are:

- CPA or CA qualified, with 3-5 years in a similar Financial Controller or Senior Finance role
- Strong in technical accounting, with excellent knowledge of reporting standards and regulations
- Skilled in analysis, with the ability to work confidently across new systems and large data sets
- Advanced in MS Excel and comfortable navigating accounting software (Apparel21 experience highly regarded)
- A proactive leader who loves mentoring teams, improving processes, and driving innovation
- A confident communicator who enjoys building relationships across all levels of the business
